Built-in, panel-ready and door system

A built-in fridge goes inside a cabinet, and a panel-ready one takes your kitchen's cabinet door on the front. With a fixed door, the cabinet door is screwed to the fridge door; with a sliding door, the cabinet has its own hinges and the door slides on runners. All Miele built-in fridges have fixed doors. Our installer fits your cabinet front and checks the door system before putting it in place. Each model takes a maximum front weight: 10 kg on the under-counter KU 7016 D and 48 kg on the K 2902 Vi.

Climate class: important in a holiday home

It tells you the room temperatures at which the appliance works properly: SN from 10 to 32 °C, ST up to 38 °C and T up to 43 °C. In Palma the average maximum in July and August is around 31 °C, and a closed-up house can get hotter. The Miele KFN 7734 B, K 7737 D, KU 7016 D and K 2902 Vi are SN-T; the KWT 6422 iG-1 wine cooler is SN, better suited to an air-conditioned kitchen. The K 7737 D and the KFN 7734 B have a holiday mode.

Fresh zones and NoFrost

Drawers at 0 °C keep meat and fish, and those with adjustable humidity keep fruit and vegetables. The K 2902 Vi has 85 litres of PerfectFresh zone and the BORA models have the Fresh zero zone. With NoFrost (KFN 7734 B and KDN 7724 E) you never need to defrost, although the air is drier.

Wine coolers: storing or serving

For serving, whites go at around 8–10 °C and reds at 16–18 °C; with two zones you can store and have wine ready to serve at the same time. Look for humidity above 50%, UV-filtering glass and a low-vibration compressor. Here you will find everything from the under-counter KWTUS 7074 F (2 zones, 32 bottles) to the KWT 2612 Vi (3 zones, 104 bottles) and the Gaggenau Vario columns. Under the counter, a wine cooler needs cold air coming in at the bottom and warm air going out through the plinth or the grille the manufacturer specifies.

Noise and energy label

In an open-plan kitchen, noise matters: it ranges from 29 dB(A) on the KFN 7734 B to 40 dB(A) on the K 2902 Vi. Since March 2021 the label runs from A to G and appliances were reclassified, so an efficient fridge may now show a B.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about fridges and wine coolers

Can't find your question? Message us on WhatsApp and we'll get back to you.

One-zone or two-zone wine cooler?

With one zone you store everything at the same temperature. With two you can store in one and keep whites or reds at serving temperature in the other. The KWT 2612 Vi has three.

At what temperature is wine served?

Whites at around 8–10 °C, and reds at 16–18 °C.

What is the difference between built-in and panel-ready?

Built-in means it goes inside a cabinet. Panel-ready means it takes your kitchen's door on the front, so the fridge cannot be seen.

Fixed or sliding door? How do I know which I have?

Look at the hinges: if the cabinet door is screwed directly to the fridge door, it is fixed; if it slides on a runner, it is sliding, as in many IKEA kitchens. Miele built-in fridges have fixed doors. Our installer checks this before fitting.

Can I leave the fridge in a closed-up house over the summer?

Choose a climate class that reaches 38 or 43 °C (ST or T): the SN-T Miele models on this page meet it. Several have a holiday mode. If you will be away for a long time, it is advisable to empty it, switch it off and leave the door ajar.

What size niche do I need?

This page has models for niches 82–88 cm high (under-counter), 88 cm and 178 cm high, and columns of about 213 cm: Miele MasterCool and Gaggenau Vario cooling, from 45.7 to 90 cm wide.

Is it noisy?

The Miele models on this page range from 29 dB(A) (KFN 7734 B) to 40 dB(A) (K 2902 Vi). The energy label also shows a noise class from A to D.

Do I need a water connection?

Only for automatic ice or water. The BORA Cool Combi is sold with or without a fixed connection; the KFN 7734 B does not need one.
