Which type of oven you need

A conventional oven bakes, roasts and grills; if it is pyrolytic, it also cleans itself. A steam-only oven, such as the Miele DG 7440, cooks vegetables and fish and reheats dishes, and usually sits alongside a main oven. A combi-steam oven (Miele DGC 7250, Gaggenau or BORA X BO) bakes and steams, so it can be your only oven. The Gaggenau combi-microwave (46 L, up to 230 °C) works as a second compact oven and also as a microwave.

Pyrolysis: when it pays off

The oven heats to around 500 °C for 1 to 3 hours and the grease is reduced to ash. One cycle roughly every 10 uses is recommended, using 3.3 to 4.8 kWh per cycle in a 60 cm oven. All the conventional Gaggenau ovens (GO series) on this page are pyrolytic; from Miele, the H 2465 BP. The Miele H 7264 B and H 2861-1 B are not pyrolytic: they have PerfectClean enamel, which is very easy to clean by hand.

Sizes and capacity

A 60 cm Miele oven offers around 76 litres. Compact models 45 cm high hold about 40 litres and fit in a tall unit next to another oven, a built-in coffee machine or a warming drawer. The 76 cm Gaggenau has 125 litres and needs a niche 72 to 73 cm wide. It is the widest format on this page, but if you are looking for a 90 cm oven, it will not fit a 90 cm niche without adapting the cabinet.

Steam and water in Mallorca

The Miele DG 7440 and DGC 7250 work with a water tank. The 76 cm Gaggenau combi-steam ovens and the BORA X BO are connected to the water supply and the drain. For plumbed-in models, Gaggenau recommends a water softener if the water is above 10 °dH, and Palma's water is above that. We check the water hardness when we install it. Our installation covers fitting the oven; your plumber prepares the water connection and the drain.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about ovens

Can't find your question? Message us on WhatsApp and we'll get back to you.

Is a pyrolytic oven worth it?

If you use the oven a lot and don't want to scrub, yes: it cleans itself at around 500 °C. Each cycle uses 3.3 to 4.8 kWh and one roughly every 10 uses is recommended. It doesn't cook better; the difference is in the cleaning.

Pyrolytic or non-stick enamel?

Enamel is cleaned by hand with a cloth, with no high-temperature cycle. Pyrolysis removes baked-on dirt without cleaning products, at the cost of a cycle lasting several hours and the energy it uses.

Steam oven or combi-steam oven?

A steam-only oven (Miele DG 7440, 40 L) complements a conventional oven. A combi-steam oven (Miele DGC 7250 with 76 L, Gaggenau or BORA X BO) bakes and steams, and can be your only oven.

Plumbed-in or water tank?

With a tank you don't need any building work, but you fill and empty it yourself. With a fixed connection (76 cm Gaggenau, BORA X BO) the water comes in and drains away on its own; you need an accessible water connection and a drain near the niche. Gaggenau has models of both kinds, and when you choose we tell you which one needs a connection. Your plumber prepares the connection and the drain before installation.

Compact 45 cm or 60 cm?

The 60 cm oven holds about 76 L; the 45 cm compact, about 40 L. The compact fits in a tall unit above another oven or next to a built-in coffee machine.

Do you have 90 cm ovens?

No. The widest format is the 76 cm Gaggenau, with 125 L, which needs a niche 72 to 73 cm wide and will not fit a 90 cm one without adapting the cabinet.

Can I put the oven under the hob?

With the Gaggenau GO ovens, yes, leaving at least 15 mm between the hob and the oven. The BORA X BO cannot be installed under the worktop; it goes in a tall unit.

What is the meat probe for?

It measures the temperature inside the food. On Gaggenau ovens, the 3-point probe calculates the remaining time; on the BORA X BO, the 4-point probe ends cooking when the chosen temperature is reached.

What energy class are the ovens?

Ovens still use the A+++ to D scale. The Miele DGC 7250 is A+ and the Gaggenau GO 45 and GO 48 series are class A.
