Four types of tap

The Blanco LINUS-S has a high spout and a pull-out spray for filling pots and cleaning the sink, and swivels 140°. The Blanco FONTAS II Filter has a fixed swivel spout and 3 ways: one lever gives cold and hot water, and the other filtered water through a separate channel. The Quooker Fusion gives cold, hot and 100 °C water from a single tap, and the Quooker Flex adds a pull-out hose that never gives boiling water.

Filter, reverse osmosis or bottled water

A lot of bottled water is bought in the Balearics: around 128 litres per person in 2022, double the Spanish average. The FONTAS II Filter reduces chlorine and limescale with an activated carbon and ion-exchange cartridge. Reverse osmosis removes more, such as nitrates or fluoride, but also the minerals, uses about five times the water it delivers and needs more maintenance.

Maintenance

The FONTAS II Filter cartridge is changed at least every 12 months, or sooner if it reaches its capacity: about 1,660 litres with water of 12 °dH. With harder water, like Palma's, it runs out sooner. Blanco keeps spare parts for its taps for at least 10 years. Ask us about the replacement cartridge.

Before installation

Both Blanco taps need a 35 mm hole in the sink or worktop. The filter goes in the cabinet under the sink, as does the Quooker tank, so it is worth measuring the free space. The FONTAS II Filter is for high-pressure systems; if your hot water comes from a low-pressure water heater, ask us. The filter system is sold separately.

Filter tap or reverse osmosis?

A filter reduces chlorine, taste and limescale without fully demineralising the water or wasting it. Reverse osmosis also removes nitrates and fluoride, but takes out the minerals, uses about five times the water it delivers and needs more maintenance.

Does the filter remove limescale and chlorine?

It reduces them: the activated carbon acts on chlorine and the ion exchange on limescale and heavy metals.

How often is the filter changed?

At least every 12 months, or sooner if it reaches its capacity: about 1,660 litres with water of 12 °dH. With harder water it lasts less.

Is the filter included?

No. The filter system is sold separately.

What size hole does the tap need?

The Blanco LINUS-S and FONTAS II Filter need a 35 mm hole.

Does it work with a low-pressure water heater?

Check first: the FONTAS II Filter is for high pressure. If you have a low-pressure water heater, ask us before ordering.

What is the difference between the Quooker Fusion and Flex?

The Fusion gives cold, hot and boiling water from a single spout. The Flex adds a pull-out hose for cold and hot water; boiling water always comes from the fixed spout.
