What "tested for 20 years" means

Miele has been a family company since 1899 and is still owned by the descendants of its two founders. It puts its washing machines, dishwashers, dryers and ovens through tests that simulate 20 years of average use: 5,000 cycles for a washing machine, 5,600 for a dishwasher. Miele itself makes clear that this is not a guarantee of lifespan. What does exist is independent data: in an OCU survey of almost 40,000 European users, Miele washing machines were the longest-lasting, with a life of around 16 years.

The warranty, explained

Miele gives a 3-year warranty in Spain. Washing machines, dryers and washer-dryers bought from 1 October 2025 also have a 25-year motor warranty if you register the appliance in My Miele within those 3 years. We help you register it.

Miele and Mallorca's water

Palma's water is hard and changes by area and time of year. Miele dishwashers have a built-in water softener and need salt from 5 °dH; it is best to set them to the highest value for your area. Washing machines with TwinDos dose the detergent according to the water hardness. We set the water hardness on installation day.

Compare without being tied to one brand

We also sell Siemens, Gaggenau and Bora, so we can put a Miele next to its closest alternative and tell you how they differ.

Does a Miele really last 20 years?

Miele tests its washing machines, dishwashers, dryers and ovens with trials that simulate 20 years of average use, but makes clear it is not a guarantee. According to the OCU, its washing machines last around 16 years on average, longer than any other brand in its survey.

What warranty does Miele offer in Spain?

3 years. Washing machines, dryers and washer-dryers bought from 1 October 2025 add a 25-year motor warranty if you register them in My Miele within the first 3 years.

Miele or Siemens/Bosch?

In the OCU survey, Miele was the longest-lasting brand for washing machines, dishwashers and dryers, though not the one with the fewest faults in every category. Siemens and Bosch appliances are made by the same group, BSH. We sell Miele and Siemens, so we compare specific models with you.

What are TwinDos and AutoDos?

TwinDos automatically doses a two-phase liquid detergent in the washing machine; Miele cites up to 30% less detergent. AutoDos does the same in the dishwasher with a powder detergent disc, the PowerDisk, which lasts about 20 washes on the ECO programme.

Do I need dishwasher salt with Mallorca's water?

Yes. Miele dishwashers need salt from 5 °dH, and Palma's water is above that. It is best to set the hardness to the highest value your water company gives.

Do you have a Miele outlet?

Yes. On the home page there is an Outlet section with discontinued or ex-display models, checked and in good condition. They are discounted and come with the full warranty.

Is the warranty valid if I take the appliance to another country?

The 3-year warranty is valid in Spain. The 25-year motor warranty is valid in the European Economic Area and Switzerland.

Who repairs a Miele in Mallorca?

Miele's official service: Sertecba in Mallorca and Menorca, and Gasifred in Ibiza and Formentera. If you have a fault, contact them directly.
